Dried beans are the basic ingredient of different dishes in many cultures. Beans are loved and preferred by many people because they are both delicious and nutritious.

Meaty Dried Bean Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dried beans
  • 300 grams of beef (cut into cubes)
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (grated or chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 cloves of garlic (crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Water

Preparation:

  1. Soak the dried beans in water overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked beans and put them in a pot. Add enough water and cook until softened (about 30-40 minutes).
  3. In another pot, heat the vegetable oil. Add the chopped onions and cook until they are translucent.
  4. Add the cubed beef and cook until browned and the water evaporates.
  5. Add the grated or chopped tomatoes and tomato paste. Cook for a few more minutes.
  6. Add the crushed garlic and cook until fragrant.
  7. Drain the cooked beans and add them to the meat mixture. Season with salt, black pepper, ground pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  8. Add enough water to cover the ingredients and simmer on low heat until the meat is tender. Stir occasionally and add more water if needed.
  9. Serve the meaty dried beans hot. You can serve it with rice and pickles.
